The Haryana Steelers, are one of the hidden gems of the Pro Kabaddi League. Since debut season, they have consistently showcased their great talent so far.

Haryana Steelers (HAR), owned by JSW Sports, part of the Jindal South West Group, is a professional kabaddi team based in Haryana and compete in Pro Kabaddi League. The team’s home ground is Tau Devi Lal Stadium, led by Jaideep Dahiya and Mohit Nandal, coached by Manpreet Singh.

Haryana Steelers founded in 2017 and debut in the same year. They have a good start as they reached the playoffs in their debut. But the good not long lasting as in the next seasons, they keep finished in the bottom of the Points Table.

Logo and identity

There was changed in the team’s logo. The first logo have the illustrator of blackbuck, the state animal of Haryana. Behind the Buck is blue with the steel stroke shield. The words ‘Haryana Steelers’ was placed in front of the buck, the bottom of the shield have red color, and an illustrator prevents to JSW, their owner.

Before season 8, they announced the new Brand Logo. The New logo is not a blackbuck anymore, it’s change to Bhima posed wielding his heavy Gada, leaning forward and reach out strikingly with his arm. The logo showed the action of an energetic and strong warrior, no matter it’s the battleground or on the Kabaddi mat.

The Journey in PKL

Debut in Season 5, the Steelers was proved they are tough challenge for any opponents in the PKL.

Season 5

In the Debut season, Haryana Steelers was cause surprised to all opponents in the Pro Kabaddi League. They finished the Tournament with 13 won matches, 4 matches Tied, and only 5 matches Lose. They reached Elimination finals but unfortunately, they was stopped by Patna Pirates.

This debut season was made a great impact to Haryana Steelers, attracted many Kabaddi enthusiasts and sponsor to their side.

Season 6

In this season, Haryana form was drop as they finished with the bottom place of the zone A, they get only 6 won and lose 14 matches with 2 Tied. End up as the team had lowest points in the season, beside Tamil Thalaivas with 42 points.

Season 7

After terrible season, the Steelers came back and reach the Eliminators finals, when they faced U Mumba and be beated like their first season.

Season 8 + 9

These season brought unlucky to them when the Steelers lack a few points to reached Eliminators finals. They finished the Tournament with 7th position in Points Table.

Season 10 (Updated 22/12/2023)

After the first loss match against UP Yoddhas, the Steelers are find back their form and dominated the League with 4 consecutive winning, stand at top 4th in the Points Table so far.

The Future of Kabaddi in Haryana

Haryana was the location that created many India’s finest athletes, like international cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, Kapil Dev, Ajay Jadeja,… and kabaddi is no exception. With many famous name like Monu Goyat, Pardeep Narwal, Sunil Kumar, etc… Haryana continues their way to train and create more and more athletes, contributes to Indian Sports in all category.

Kabaddi, the Indian traditional sport, was become one of professional sport after Pro Kabaddi League appearance and extend to international after few seasons. Haryana, known as the hotbed of kabaddi in India, has committed to keep the passionate of the young generations about the sport, keep training and provide professional kabaddi players.
