What is Sequences and Sets in Rummy?
EK Rummy rules have 2 types of sequence:
- Pure sequence: A chain of 3 or 4 consecutive cards of the same suit without using any joker. You need at least one Pure Sequence to make a valid Rummy declaration. Ex: 5♥ 6♥ 7♥ 8♥ or 5♠ 6♠ 7♠ is a pure sequence with 3 cards and none of the Joker cards used.
- Impure sequence: A chain of 3 or 4 consecutive cards of the same suit with a Joker or wild Joker. Example:
- 5♥ 6♥ 8♥ 5♠: In this case, 5♠ are used as a wild Joker and turn into 7♥ to form a sequence.
- 5♥ 6♥ 8♥ Joker: In this case, Joker card will be used as 7♥ to form a sequence.
First Life means the first pure sequence is created. Second Life means the 2nd pure/impure sequence is created.
What is Sets? How to Form a Set?

- 5♥ 5♦ 5♠: a basic valid set of cards, called a Triple

Invalid set:
An invalid set is a set that includes 2 or more cards that have the same suit in it. For example, 5♥ 5♦ 5♠ 5♠, there are two 5♠ so it’s an invalid set.
Discard Cards EK Rummy Rules
To form sequences and sets in EK Rummy Rules, players discard their cards and pick the cards from the deck or discard pile. However, players only play within 13 cards, so wherever they want to pick up a card, they must discard one of their 13 cards. Notice:
- Players will win the EK Rummy game if they form all their 13 cards into sequences and sets, for example: 1 pure sequence, 1 pure/impure sequence and 2 sets.
- The maximum of penalty points is 80. Mean if a player has calculated 85 penalty points, they will only have 80 points penalty.
- Leave Table will be calculated like Drop off.
Rummy Variations and Its Rules
