Semi-final Cricket World Cup 2023

The three cricket team in this World Cup have already qualified for the semi-final Cricket World Cup 2023 are India, South Africa and Australia. Only one ticket more and the next will decide who will face India in the 1st semi-final match.

With England, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands eliminated from the semi-finals, India’s opponents in the semi-finals will be determined based on the results of their last three matches, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Pakistan. India will play the semi-final in Mumbai unless it plays against Pakistan. If Pakistan wins the right to enter the semi-finals as the 4th ranked team, India will go to Kolkata to play the semi-finals.

Qualified For The Last Ticket for the Semi

To able to take the last ticket for the Semi-final Cricket World Cup 2023, each of these teams need to do qualify for the semi-final.

New Zealand National Cricket Team

Kane Williamson-led New Zealand must beat Sri Lanka in the match scheduled for November 9 at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium. Also, in the worst case scenario, they will have to hope that Jos Buttler-led England lose to Babar Azam-led Pakistan by a margin of less than 130 runs.

Pakistan National Cricket Team

Meanwhile, Babar Azam-led Pakistan Cricket team will have to beat England by at least 130 runs on November 11 and also hope Sri Lanka will beat New Zealand otherwise the match will be drawn as heavy rain is expected in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Afghanistan National cricket team

Hashmatullah Shahidi-led Afghanistan would have had an easier path to the semi-finals had it not been for Maxwell’s stunning 201 on Tuesday. Now, they have to defeat Temba Bavuma-led South Africa on November 10 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Not only that, they also have to hope that Sri Lanka defeats New Zealand and England defeats Pakistan so they can make history by reaching the World Cup semi-finals for the first time.

While the scenario for Afghanistan is simpler, the net run rate works for Pakistan and New Zealand. With the latter’s net run rate surpassing Pakistan’s, Babar Azam’s team will have no task left against England if New Zealand defeats Sri Lanka. Pakistan will need to beat England by around 130 runs and the same margin by which New Zealand beat Sri Lanka.

So the Second semi-final match will happen between South Africa vs Australia.
